Hey pple...

This is a joint blog shared by 2 lazy pple - Ciping & Wilbur, who wishes to use each other to maintain the blog. Sadly, Ciping is the more inactive one and Wilbur does most of the work in the end. Feel free to post comments on the tag-board, it feels good to know pple are actually reading and responding to your posts. It gives motivation to write more.

< Victoria.. something more? or something lesser.. >

Now I know why the school gives such generous moderations.

English - 1 mark (not so generous)
A.maths - 8 marks (definitely generous)
Combined humanes - 8 marks (I like this)
Physics - 5 marks =)

It is to keep afloat amidst all the competition:

English - 3 marks (!)
E maths - 14 marks (!!This is e.maths!!!!!!!!!!!)
A Maths - 10 (!!!)
Bio - 11(!!!!)
Physics - 4
Chemistry - 4 (!!)
HML - 4
Humanities - 3

You see, with other schools moderating results like free, VS cannot afford to slack. This is the TKGS moderation. If you're wondering how I got this info, it was from Wilfred, who evidently have some VERY GOOD friends in the school. =)

I have this premonition that our batch is going to do well for the O'lvls, but after we leave the school, the school will go on its way down. It happened in my primary school. My cohort was one of the best-performing ones in years, I think, but after we left, enrolment in primary 1 has shrunk to around 1 or 2 classes per year now. HA. *The curse of the dragon babies* Of course it was not because of us, it was a coincidence, due to other factors. But yet again, *the curse of the dragon babies* might just re-surface in VS.

Under the wise (ahem) leadership of our beloved (ahem ahem) principal, Victoria School will definitely not crumble and fall like nobody's business after he leaves the school. No. Definitely not because of a serious lack of funds (ahem ahem ahem). NO no no. Yes, Victoria School will grow from strength to strength. OFfering students more opportunities then ever, now that they will offer COMBINED SCIENCE to the next yr sec 3s. A subject that NO TOP SCHOOL will offer, as it is only for weak students. VS will transform all this weak students into terrific students through COMBINED SCIENCE. How true.

Consider this. Quite a few years ago, VS offered 9 sub combi of - triple sci and double humanes. Students tried, and most disappointed the school ( I guess). And that is why, when it came to my yr, this 9 sub combi was gone. I went to appeal for it with 7 other friends, and no, I decided against it because if I took it, I'd be the only 1 and would have to stay back after school, do extra work, and basically, compromise my playing / slacking time.

That aside. Apparently now students in VS are getting weaker in their sciences such that COMBINED science have to be offered. In fact, if I'm not wrong, there is no more GEP because all Gifted students have the brains to know betta den to come to VS. Perhaps very soon, we'll see Principle of Accounts emerging as a subject. Then Victoria School will be renamed as Geylang Bahru Secondary School, asked to vacate our 7-story building, eco-pond, 'nil sine labore' parade square, and shift back to our old site once the Saint Andrews' village has been built. Once we shift back, we'll find that other than 'Thy sons are we' being replaced by 'SAINTS', the doorknobs will be missing, the toilet signs will be mixed up and grafiti would be commonplace. (Call that tit for tat) However, due to a lack of funds, we would have no money to replace all these and would have to study in a half-functioning school building. One good thing though, instead of a desert for a field, students will get to enjoy a swamp for 1. On the first day of school, Mr Ang would be invited back, together with Mr Chia and the rest of the 'ahem' team, the students would arrange to have a RUGBY match with them. That day... would ironically be the happiest day of the students' lives.
