Hey pple...

This is a joint blog shared by 2 lazy pple - Ciping & Wilbur, who wishes to use each other to maintain the blog. Sadly, Ciping is the more inactive one and Wilbur does most of the work in the end. Feel free to post comments on the tag-board, it feels good to know pple are actually reading and responding to your posts. It gives motivation to write more.

20th July 2005 - National Track & Field Finals

But no mention of kayaking.

Not that I'd like them to mention. After all, I'm sure that if the school was asked to support us, many people would come down. But they'd be quite disappointed. Because the support we need, is not 'that' kind of support, yet. Cheering only comes in when you're confident of performing.

But first, we'd need support in terms of funds, and talent. If the school does not allocate enough funds for us to buy boats, we would forever only have a handful of boats instead of a whole fleet which the champions NJ possess.

But that's not the main problem. The school has already helped us get a few new boats, as well as paddles. Boats cost like a thousand bucks, while each paddle is around $400. Yes, the paddle is super ex when compared to a boat since they're supposedly made of some super strong but light material. Kevlar I think.

So yes, the school should have spent quite a few thousand on us already, I think (some boats were donated). Though not enough yet, but good enough if we've really received that kind of support. Appreciate that. However, we do need some experienced kayakers to help strengthened the team. Apparently, no slots were reserved for kayaking in the DSA (direct school admission). This year, although there were 2 very good year 1 kayakers, they could not stay because of not so gd o'lvl results. So apparently, the school does not really accept appeal cases for kayaking too.

And with a year 1 squad of just 6 girls and slightly more guys, all inexperienced. All must get into the finals to gain recognition for the school. Now if that doesn't sound immpossible, I don't know what does.

Having said that, I want to take this as a challenge. Using the example of NCC Air, if they can remain dedicated and committed. Even if we don't have school support, nor achieve recognition in the Nationals, we can still hold our heads up high. Because we train as hard as any other sport, although we don't receive in enough support.

So although I will most certainly lose this time, I'm still training. And I have no idea why I'm doing this. Maybe because I don't want half a year of training to go to waste. Maybe because I'm secretly hoping, against all odds, for a miracle to happen. Like everyone capsize then we are the last boat standing, muahahahaha. But I'd rather we hav a sudden burst of speed and zoom past every1, capsizing them in the process. Yes, dream on.

The power of imagination.
